EMI Calculator (India)

Work out the Equated Monthly Installment on a home, car, or personal loan using the standard reducing-balance formula EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n / ((1 + r)n − 1), where P is the principal, r the monthly interest rate, and n the number of months. Example: ₹20,00,000 at 8.5% for 20 years works out to about ₹17,356 per month.

Mortgage Calculator (Global)

Estimate a monthly mortgage payment in USD or GBP from the home price, down payment, interest rate, and term (10–30 years), with optional property tax and home insurance. Example: a $400,000 home with 20% down at 6.5% over 30 years is about $2,023 per month in principal and interest.

Personal Loan Calculator

Compare reducing-balance and flat-rate interest for a personal or car loan. A flat rate charges interest on the full original principal for the whole term, so a 10% flat rate costs roughly the same as a 17–18% reducing-balance rate.

The Formula We Use

Where: P = Principal (loan amount)  |  r = Monthly Interest Rate  |  n = Total Months

The standard reducing-balance amortization formula — the same maths behind an EMI in India and a mortgage payment worldwide.

Home vs Car vs Personal Loan: Rate Comparison

Indicative interest rates and terms for the three most common loan types in India and the United States. The actual rate you are offered depends on your lender, credit score, income, and loan amount — always confirm current figures with the bank before you borrow.

Loan Type Typical Rate (India) Typical Rate (US) Common Tenure Collateral
Home Loan / Mortgage 8.3% – 9.5% 6.5% – 7.5% Up to 30 years Secured (property)
Car / Auto Loan 9% – 12% 7% – 11% 1 – 7 years Secured (vehicle)
Personal Loan 10.5% – 24% 8% – 24% 1 – 7 years Unsecured

Rates are indicative 2026 ranges for well-qualified borrowers and move with market conditions and monetary policy. Home and car loans are secured against the asset, so they usually cost less than an unsecured personal loan. Enter your own rate and amount in the calculator above to see the exact EMI or monthly payment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Loan Calculators

EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) is the fixed amount you pay your lender every month until the loan is fully repaid. Each EMI covers both interest and part of the principal. It is calculated with the reducing-balance formula EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ / ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and n is the total number of monthly installments.
